Vigilance raids VIMSAR official, unearths 2 buildings & 20 plots

Sambalpur: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday unearthed multi-storey buildings, 20 plots and Rs 19.72 lakh in cash during raids on an official of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla.

Acting on allegations of possessing disproportionate assets (DA) beyond his known sources of income, the anti-corruption team raided the Establishment Officer-cum-Office Superintendent of VIMSAR, Dhanurdhar Biswal.

Simultaneous searches were carried out by teams led by DSPs and inspectors at four locations in Sambalpur district, including his residential properties and office chamber.

Assets unearthed so far include two buildings (a residential double-storey building measuring approximately 1,650 sqft at Dhankauda, Sambalpur, and another building at Gudesinga, Sambalpur), 20 valuable plots on the outskirts of Sambalpur town, and cash of Rs 19,72,490.

This apart, vehicles like 1 Hyva truck, 1 four-wheeler (Renault Kiger/Kaiser), 2 tractors, 3 two-wheelers, and gold jewellery were also recovered. The bank deposits, postal savings, and other investments are being ascertained.

Raids are also underway at properties linked to VIMSAR steward Aswini Meher across Sambalpur and Baragada districts.
