Utkal University celebrates Odisha Day, remembers legends

Bhubaneswar: Utkal University on Wednesday celebrated the Odisha Day with great pomp and splendor at MKCG Auditorium to mark the 91st Foundation Day of the State.

Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University of Culture Prof. Prasanna Kumar Swain inaugurated the function as chief guest in the presence of Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University Prof. Jagneshwar Dandapat, PG Council chairperson Prof. Mitali Chinara, Registrar Swati Mishra and Comptroller of Finance Minati Pati.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Swain shared his personal experiences as a former student of Utkal University and stressed to promote Odisha’s traditional food and delicacies. While paying tribute to the legends and martyrs of Odisha, he emphasized the importance of collective development.

Presiding over the event, Prof. Dandapat called for proper utilization of Odisha’s natural resources to build a developed Odisha.

Prof. Chinara remembered the contributions of leaders and luminaries including Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati Narayan Deo, Madhusudan Das, Gopabandhu Das, Fakir Mohan Senapati, Gangadhar Meher, Harekrushna Mahtab, Malati Choudhury, Sarala Devi, and Parbati Giri, noting they have left an indelible mark on India’s history.

On the occasion, meritorious students who brought laurels to the institution in the inter-university competitions were honored. Among others, teachers and students in large numbers were present.
