Puri: Two minor brothers drowned while taking bath in the Bhargavi river in Chandanpur area of Odisha’s Puri district on Saturday.
The incident took place near the Janakadeipur railway bridge under the jurisdiction of Chandanpur police station in the morning with the siblings, aged around 14 and 12 years. They were from Ketakipatana area.
Sources said the two boys had gone to the river for a bath when they slipped into deep waters and got swept away. They drowned before any immediate help could reach them.
Local residents rushed to the spot and managed to pull the boys out of the river. However, both were declared dead. The bodies were later sent to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination.
