Bhawanipatna: Two drivers lost their lives early Wednesday morning after a speeding container truck collided with vehicles parked outside a rice mill in Kalahandi district. The accident took place on NH-26 near Khajuripada village in Kesinga block.
Three trucks carrying paddy from Haramal village arrived at a mill early this morning. The drivers parked the trucks along the road and were standing nearby, waiting for the unloading process to begin, when a speeding goods container truck, traveling from Bhawanipatna toward Kesinga, lost control and rammed into the vehicles.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the two drivers standing nearby were dragged for nearly 50 feet along the road, resulting in their tragic deaths on the spot.
On being informed, Kesinga police arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies of the deceased drivers, and sent them to Kesinga Community Health Center (CHC) for postmortem. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the crash and trace the truck and its driver.
