Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Commissionerate Police announced temporary traffic restrictions in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, ahead of the Vice-President of India’s visit to attend multiple programmes in the city.
Police will regulate movement across major routes to ensure smooth traffic and security for the VIP convoy. The restrictions will apply at specific intervals throughout the day.
From 10:25 AM to 10:45 AM, roads between Airport Square, Hospital Square, AG Square, Lok Bhavan Square, Gopabandhu Square, and OUAT Square will remain closed. Between 12:25 PM and 12:40 PM, the stretch from OUAT Square to Lok Bhavan Square will be restricted.
Traffic will also be halted from 1:40 PM to 2:30 PM along Lok Bhavan Square, Power House Square, 120 Bn Square, Sastri Nagar Square, Behera Sahi Square, Jaydev Vihar Square, NH‑16 Khordha Bypass Road, Carmel School Square, Kholadwar Square, Padampur Square, and NISER.
The final phase of restrictions will occur between 3:55 PM and 5:25 PM, covering NISER to Airport Square via Padampur, Kholadwar, Carmel School, Jaydev Vihar, Behera Sahi, Sastri Nagar, Power House, Lok Bhavan, AG, and Hospital Squares.
The Commissionerate urged commuters to plan their journeys in advance, use alternate routes, and cooperate with traffic personnel for smooth regulation. Emergency vehicles such as fire tenders and ambulances will remain unaffected by the restrictions.
