Sudhanshu Sarangi & P S Ranpise empanelled for DG-level Central posts

Bhubaneswar: Two senior Odisha cadre IPS officers – Sudhansu Sarangi and Padmakar S. Ranipse have been empanelled for Director General (DG) and DG-equivalent posts at the Centre.

The empanelment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) at a time when the exercise for the selection of new Director General of Police (GDP) in Odisha is underway. While Sarangi is a 1990-batch officer of Odisha cadre, Ranipse happens to be from the 1995 batch. Both have been empanelled for Director General (DG) and DG-equivalent posts at the Centre.

Sarangi, a remarkably dedicated officer from the 1990 batch of the Odisha cadre, is now posted as Director General, Fire Service, CO, HG & Director, CD, Odisha. Similarly, Ranpise is currently serving as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Sarangi has held several critical assignments, including serving as the Commissioner of Police for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack and as the Director General of Fire and Emergency Services in Odisha. His career is distinguished by a strong focus on structural modernisations, tech-driven law enforcement, and high-integrity public safety management.

The empanelment clears the path for the two senior officers to take up apex-level leadership roles in central agencies.
