Kendrapada: A Plus II first year student was rescued by police in Odisha’s Kendrapada district on Monday, hours after she was being allegedly kidnapped from Nuapada-Patkura road.
Two youths have been detained in connection with the incident.
According to sources, two Plus II students were returning home on their bicycles from college at around 10 am when a car suddenly stopped near them at Jamunabad Gada. Two youths then forcibly dragged one of the students into the vehicle and sped away. The other student raised an alarm and informed her family, who then filed a complaint at the Patkura police station.
Police sprung into action, checked CCTV footage from nearby areas and coordinated with officials in other districts. Check posts were also set up to track and stop the car. Finally, the car was located and stopped at Biribati area of Gandarpur in Cuttack district. “We have rescued the minor girl and detained two youths. She is being brought to the district. Strict action will be taken against those involved,” said IIC of Patkura police station Mohammed Jamshed.
