Bhubaneswar: The Nrityantar Odissi dancer’s Odia girl Angeleena presented Odissi dance as part of the India Day 2026 celebrations organised by the Embassy of India at Seoul in South Korea.
The Odissi dance group comprising Ashwashana, Angeleena, Shreyashi and five-year-old Mihika Mahnoor under Odissi Guru Madhulita Mohapatra mesmerized the audience at the side of Han river with a clear blue sky without a hint of fine dust, brilliant sunlight danced on the silver waves. People paused, their ears perked up, and they found themselves walking toward the source of the enticing aroma.
The inaugural ‘India Day’ event was organized by the Indian Embassy in South Korea. Cultures from North and South India, and from the eastern and western regions, were showcased along the riverside. Approximately 18,000 Indians reside in South Korea, while the number of Koreans living in India is even lower.
“As the global balance of power shifts, India is no longer a distant land. While performing Odissi dance we meet a Korina K-Pop group, for my surprise one of their key group member is belongs to Rourkela city of my State. We spent some time together,” said Angeleena.
Ambassador Gokarnal Das said, “Today’s gathering symbolizes the unity of Korean and Indian cultures.”
