Odisha registers 33,515 new voter applications in special campaign

Bhubaneswar: To ensure an inclusive and error-free electoral roll, the Election Commission of India (ECI) successfully conducted a three-day special voter registration drive across Odisha from October 7 to 9.

The campaign aimed to reach every eligible citizen who missed out during the Special Summary Revision (SSR) process, with a strong emphasis on empowering first-time and youth voters.

To facilitate smooth participation, the administration set up 26,446 special camps across all districts of the state. These camps served as dynamic community hubs where citizens received guidance on registration procedures, checked their eligibility, and submitted their application forms effortlessly.

The special drive witnessed enthusiastic participation, particularly among young citizens eager to exercise their democratic rights. In total, 33,515 Form-6 applications were received during the three days. While 32,067 Form-6 applications were submitted by new and first-time young voters, 1,448 Form-6 applications were gathered from previously unregistered eligible citizens.

Building on this momentum, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will continue door-to-door visits throughout the remainder of October. BLOs will assist households with new registrations, application tracking, and necessary corrections in the electoral rolls. They will place special focus on helping young individuals and those missed during the SSR process submit their Form-6 applications effortlessly.

Aligned with the ECI’s core mandate ‘No voter to be left behind’, this special initiative represents a pivotal step toward building an accurate, transparent, and comprehensive voter list, ensuring every eligible citizen in Odisha gets a voice in shaping the nation’s democratic future.
