Odisha Police win FAO football league champion title

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police football team has emerged as champions of the FAO Football League, organised by the Football Association of Odisha (FAO) and the State Sports Department.

In the final held on August 16 at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, Odisha Police defeated Young Utkal Club 5‑1, showcasing remarkable skill and teamwork. Purushottam Kerketta scored two goals, while Lakhai Murmu, Raisen Tudu, and Bijay Behera netted one each, sealing the emphatic victory.

Following the triumph, the team met DGP Binaytosh Mishra at the State Police Headquarters. The DGP congratulated the players, lauding their discipline, dedication, and sporting excellence, and expressed hope that Odisha Police athletes will continue to bring glory to the force in future competitions.

The champions not only lifted the FAO League trophy but also received a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.

Senior officials including ADG (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar, IGP (Personnel) Praveen Kumar, and Sports Officer Neelamadhab Swain were present at the felicitation ceremony, encouraging the players and celebrating their achievement.
