Odisha Man Consumes Poison At Police Station To Evade Arrest After Domestic Abuse Complaint

Jagatsinghpur: A man is battling for life at hospital after allegedly consuming poison to evade arrest following a heated domestic altercation. The incident took place on Sunday evening at Erasama police station in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.

He has been identified as Anadi Rout of Kanaguli village under Kunjakothi panchayat in Erasama block.

According to sources, Rout’s wife, accompanied by family members, approached the station to lodge a complaint against him for domestic abuse.E nraged by the complaint, Rout reportedly turned violent inside the police premises. He allegedly verbally abused and physically assaulted his wife and father-in-law. When police intervened to restrain him, Rout suddenly consumed poison, possibly out of fear of imminent arrest.

He was immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Erasama for initial treatment and later shifted to district headquarters hospital in Jagatsinghpur as his condition deteriorated.

Sources further stated that Anadi has a history of violent behavior towards his wife and children. His wife had also sought help from police in the past.
