Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Higher Education Department on Wednesday directed all state public universities and government as well as aided colleges to adopt the newly launched “Shaktishree” mobile application. The initiative aims to strengthen student safety and support services across campuses.
Director of Higher Education Kaliprasanna Mahapatra issued the directive, asking institutions to ensure awareness and active onboarding of students. The app provides SOS emergency assistance, safety check-in options, counselling support, institutional announcements, and real-time grievance redressal.
The department instructed colleges and universities to encourage all eligible students to download and register on the platform. Principals and registrars have been advised to use classroom announcements, orientation programmes, official notices, and WhatsApp groups to spread awareness.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had launched the app on May 2. The department emphasised that institutions must implement the directive with priority to ensure effective adoption across Odisha’s higher education ecosystem.
