Bhubaneswar: Odisha may witness another spell of heavy rainfall as a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal (BoB) during the next 24 hours, said the IMD on Saturday.
“A fresh upper air cyclonic circulation has formed over central Myanmar and neighbourhood. They cyclonic circulation lay over north Bay of Bengal off West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts on August 22 (Saturday),” said the IMD in its weather bulletin.
Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region during the next 24 hours, it added.
As per the IMD prediction, a few places in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall between August 24 and 28. The MeT Department has issued an Orange warning in this regard.
Similarly, heavy rainfall may lash some places across the districts of Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Balangir, Jajpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj till August 28. The IMD has issued a Yellow warning for these districts.
In addition to this, many places across the state are likely to witness light to moderate rain or thunderstorms till August 28, said the IMD regional centre here.
Some places across the districts of Nayagarh, Puri, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Khurda, Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Sambalpur received rainfall during the last 24 hours, it added.
