Anugola: In a gruesome murder, a man was allegedly hacked to death by a group of attackers at Baluakata Talasahi village in Odisha’s Anugola district.
The brutal killing, which took place in the middle of the village on Saturday night, has left the entire area in shock. The deceased has been identified as Hemanta Behera, a resident of Bandha Uparasahi village.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred late at night when Hemanta had gone to a local shop in Talasahi village, when he was allegedly attacked by four to five youths with sharp weapons. He sustained fatal injuries and died as a result of the attack.
The murder, carried out in a public place in the heart of the village, has created fear and tension among residents. Locals gathered at the spot after the incident, while news of the brutal killing quickly spread across the area.
Hemanta’s nephew has alleged that the murder was the outcome of a long-standing personal rivalry. He specifically claimed that a youth from Sadhapur village was responsible for killing his uncle. Police are verifying these allegations as part of their investigation.
Following the incident, Sadar police has launched an investigation and are working to identify all the accused involved in the attack.
