Kataka: Centenarian freedom fighter and President of the Odisha State Freedom Fighters’ Association, Bimbadhar Muduli, passed away while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka. He was 102.
A native of Kendrapada district, Muduli played a significant role in India’s independence movement. Despite his advanced age, he remained deeply committed to the welfare of the freedom fighters’ community and was recently elected to lead the state association, actively serving in the role until his final days.
News of his passing has cast a pall of gloom across the state, particularly in his home region. Expressing profound sorrow, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi praised the veteran leader’s lifelong dedication to the nation, emphasising that his immense contributions and selfless service would forever be inscribed in golden letters in history. “In this hour of grief, I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and followers, while praying at the feet of Lord Sri Jagannath for the eternal peace of his immortal soul,” he added.
Kataka Municipal Corporation Mayor Subhash Singh, BJP leader Prabhat Biswal, and several other dignitaries visited SCB Medical College and Hospital to pay their last respects to the departed icon, offering condolences to his family and praying for his soul’s eternal peace.
