Bhubaneswar: DJ vehicles will not be allowed during Durga Puja idol immersion processions in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police announced on Tuesday.
The ban will be enforced strictly and criminal action will be initiated against people found violating the restrictions, Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Saravana Vivek M said.
The restrictions aim at ensuring that the immersion processions conclude peacefully and without disrupting law and order. Playing loud music after 10 pm is also prohibited under the applicable Supreme Court guidelines, he said.
As many as 48 platoons of police personnel will be deployed across the capital city to manage crowds and maintain security during the immersion processions.
The DCP also warned that organisers and others who violate the rules will face legal action. He urged puja committees to follow the guidelines and cooperate with the authorities.
The administration has arranged temporary ponds at six locations for the immersion of Durga idols. Three of these are along the Kuakhai River, while another is along the Daya River.
The arrangements are intended to facilitate the smooth movement of processions and ensure that the immersion rituals take place in an orderly manner.
Meanwhile, authorities have granted permission for Ravan Dahan programmes at nine locations in different parts of Bhubaneswar.
