Guwahati: Executive Member of Health & Family Welfare, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Derhasat Basumatary praised the NTPC Bongaigaon’s efforts towards empowering young girls through its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Visiting the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) Centre at NTPC Bongaigaon, Basumatary interacted with 50 participants and encouraged them to pursue their dreams with confidence, dedication and determination. He lauded the residential facilities, learning environment and holistic training being provided under the programme, stating that such initiatives play a significant role in nurturing confident, educated and empowered young citizens.
Basumatary commended NTPC Bongaigaon for its sustained commitment towards the socio-economic development of the region and for creating meaningful opportunities for girls through education, life skills, health awareness, sports and personality development under the Girl Empowerment Mission.
He also distributed educational kits and mosquito nets to the participants and extended his best wishes for their bright future.
Among others, General Manager (O&M) of NTPC Bongaigaon Anurag Gupta, AGM (HR) Amit Kumar Asthana, AGM (HR) Roshan Dungdung and officials from the HR and CSR departments, who briefed him on the various activities being conducted under GEM 2026.
The visit further strengthened NTPC Bongaigaon’s commitment to empowering the girl child and fostering inclusive community development in alignment with the national vision of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
