Deputy Ranger Found With Rs 1.4 Cr, 4 Gold Biscuits & 16 Gold Coins During Odisha Vigilance Raid

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday unearthed Rs 1.4 crore, four gold biscuits, 16 gold coins each weighing 10 gram from a flat of Deputy Ranger of Jeypore Forest Range, Rama Chandra Nepak, during raids on allegation of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.Traditional Odia handicrafts

“Counting machines have been deployed to ascertain the cash seized and the gold seized is being weighed,” a Vigilance release said.

Earlier in the day, the anti-corruption agency carried out simultaneous searches at six places in Jeypore and Bhubaneswar on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore.

Raids were conducted by teams of 6 DSPs, 5 inspectors, 9 ASIs, and other supporting staff at these following places:

  1. A building on paternal land at NKT Road, PR Petta, Jeypore town, in Koraput district.
  2. His flat at Golden Height Residential Apartment, PR Petta, Jeypore town.
  3. Another flat at Golden Height Residential Apartment, PR Petta, Jeypore town.
  4. A flat belonging to his brother at UMS Bhagabati Mansion, Raghunathpur Jali, Bhubaneswar.
  5. House of his in-law located at Sombar Tota, Jeypore town.
  6. His office chamber at Jeypore Forest Range.

Nepak joined as Village Forest Worker on March 9, 1989, at Social Forestry in Koraput Social Forestry Division. After the merger of Social Forestry with Territorial Forest Division, he was posted in Jeypore Forest (Territorial) Division.

At present, he was serving as Deputy Ranger-cum In-Charge Ranger, Jeypore Forest Range, receiving a net salary of Rs 69,680 and gross salary of Rs 76,880/month, the release added.
