Dana Majhi of Kalahandi files FIR over short film ‘Laash’

Bhubaneswar: Dana Majhi, a tribal man from Odisha’s Kalahandi district, has lodged an FIR against the makers of short film ‘Laash’.

Majhi, who had hogged the headlines for carrying the body of his wife on his shoulders for 10 km after allegedly being denied a hearse in 2016, has claimed that the short film depicts his real-life story. The tribal man alleged that the makers of the film did not contact him and obtain his permission in this regard.

Majhi has filed an FIR against Manoj Bagh, the producer of short film ‘Laash’ with Patnagarh police in Balangir district. The short film, produced and directed by Bagh, has been screened at the Indo Singapore International Film Festival (ISIFF), reports said.

Majhi had carried the corpse of his wife on his shoulders for 10 km after failing to arrange a vehicle to carry her home in August, 2016. His long walk from the TB ward of Kalahandi district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Bhawanipatna had hogged the headlines across the world.
