CM Majhi orders Crime Branch probe into Balianta mob lynching case

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday ordered Crime Branch investigation into Balianta mob lynching incident after a high-level emergency meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan here.

Disturbed by the brazen act of vigilante violence, Majhi directed the Crime Branch to launch a thorough, meticulous investigation and ensure stringent action against all those involved. Describing the incident as deeply concerning, Majhi instructed senior police officials to leave no stone unturned in uncovering the full truth.

“The state will not tolerate any attempt to undermine the rule of law,” he emphasised during the meeting. He further directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to remain extremely vigilant and take every possible measure to prevent any recurrence of such shameful episodes.

The Chief Minister made it clear that police across the state must adopt the strictest possible approach to restore public confidence and uphold the sanctity of law and order. “Firm and decisive action is the only way to send a strong message that mob justice has no place in Odisha,” he added.

The high-level meeting was attended by key officials, including CM’s advisor Prakash Mishra, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma, DGP YB Khurania, ACS to CM Saswata Mishra, IG (Intelligence) RP Koche, ADG (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar, ADG Crime Branch Vinaytosh Mishra, Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh, and DCP Jagmohan Meena.

The swift and decisive response from the highest level of government signals a clear message: the Odisha administration is treating this incident with utmost seriousness and is determined to deliver justice while reinforcing the rule of law across the state.
