Blast During Firecracker Making Leaves Six Critical In Odisha’s Nayagarh

Nayagarh: Six persons, including two women and a minor, were reportedly injured after a powerful explosion ripped through a house during alleged assembling of illegal firecrackers at Korada village, under Nuagaon police limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Friday.

According to sources, the incident occurred around noon. Locals rushed to the spot on hearing the loud blast and immediately alerted fire services, ambulance, and police. Following which, the injured were rescued and rushed to primary health centre at Nuagoan and then admitted to community health centre at Mahipur. They were later shifted to district headquarters hospital here as their condition deteriorated. They are likely to be transferred to Bhubaneswar or Cuttack for advanced care.

While five among them are locals, the 15-year-old boy is from Ganjam. It is being suspected that firecrackers were being prepared for the upcoming Lanka Podi festival, scheduled around April 7, the sources added.
