Khaira: In a bid to curb rampant illegal mining at Sarisua in Khaira block’s Kupari area, Balasore Collector Suryawanshi Mayur Vikas has instructed officials to install CCTV cameras at key locations within four days.
The Collector, accompanied by senior officials, visited the site on Thursday to assess the situation and identify suitable points for surveillance equipment and police deployment. He also instructed that police check posts should be set up in the region. He instructed that these measures be implemented within the next four days, amid reports of widespread illegal sand and stone mining in the area.
Vikas said the administration recently strengthened security arrangements in Soro and similar measures, including deployment of police personnel and installation of CCTV cameras, will now be extended to Kupari-Sarisua to tackle the ongoing illegal mining activities. The administration is taking all required steps to curb the illegal stone blasting that is going on in the area.
Officials said that the combined strategy of CCTV monitoring and physical checkposts aims to ensure continuous oversight of mining activities and prevent unauthorised operations in the region. The site assessment by senior officials also included a review of terrain and critical points where illegal mining is most prevalent.
