Cuttack: Two days after the devastating blaze at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, another fire broke out at the premier healthcare facility in the city on Wednesday.
According to preliminary information, the fire was triggered by an electric short circuit in the non-trauma casualty unit of the hospital.
The fire reportedly originated from an electrical board following a suspected short circuit. After noticing smoke emanating from the board, hospital authorities swung into action and immediately informed the fire services. Firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control by preventing the fire from spreading to other areas.
A large number of patients were present at the non-trauma care unit. No injury to anyone was reported, and the situation is now under control.
No comments were received from local police or the SCB authorities in this regard.
It may be noted the fire incident at SCB Medical College Hospital on Monday claimed the lives of 12 patients at the Trauma Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
