8 of 88 Milk Samples Fail Quality Test In Odisha: Minister

Bhubaneswar: Consumers in Odisha are facing fresh concerns over food safety after Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik informed the Assembly that substandard milk is being sold in markets across the state.

The minister informed the House that 88 milk samples collected from private companies last year were tested for quality. Eight of these samples were found to be substandard, raising questions about the safety of dairy products being consumed by thousands of households daily, he said.

The disclosure has triggered unease among legislators and the public alike, with many demanding stricter monitoring of private dairy firms.

The revelation underscores the urgent need for stronger enforcement of food safety regulations and regular inspections to ensure that consumers are not exposed to health risks.
