Bhubaneswar: The State-level Fisheries and Livestock Samavesh-2025, a grand event for the prosperity of fishermen and livestock farmers, has been inaugurated at Biju Patnaik Ground in Baramunda here.
Inaugurating the three-day exhibition, Minister for Food Supply and Consumer Welfare, Science and Technology Krushna Chandra Patra as the chief guest said fisheries and livestock-based agricultural economy will help in increasing the progress of Odisha.
Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Development and MSME Gokulananda Mallick joined the gathering as the guest of honour and said, “Fishermen and livestock farmers will be the drivers of a developed Odisha. Farmers will be motivated by direct experience from live exhibitions, knowledge about new technologies, guidance from experts, and interaction with successful farmers, and if they apply this in their work, their socio-economic empowerment can be achieved. Our government’s goal is to double the income of farmers.”
A total of 10 interactive panel discussions will be organized. Mallick, will give a direct answer in the “Ask the Minister” program. About 200 stalls have been displayed in 2 hangars on fish, livestock, products of various departments and companies. Similarly, live animals and fish exhibitions have been organized in 2 open hangars.
The center of attraction at the gathering is the buffalo bull ‘Bhim’ from Rajasthan. ‘Punganur’ cattle from Andhra Pradesh are one of the attractions of the gathering. The Minister has requested everyone to come and visit ‘Fish-Livestock Gathering Odisha’ and gain knowledge about the application of modern technologies in the field of fish and livestock development.
Principal Secretary of Fisheries and Livestock Development Department Suresh Kumar Basitha, Chairman of MPEDA DV Swamy, Director General of Worldfish Dr. Esam Yasin Mohammed, departmental officers, media representatives, fishermen and animal husbandry workers from various districts were present at the inauguration ceremony. Fisheries Director Mohammed Sadiq Alam delivered the welcome speech while Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Director Vijay Amrita Kulange proposed the vote of thanks.
