Phulbani: Intensifying its drive against narcotic drug trafficking in Kandhamal, the district police has seized 1,809 kg of ganja worth over Rs. 1.9 crore and arrested four persons in this connection.
Informing this here on Friday, Kandhamal SP Ramendra Prasad said as many as five NDPS cases have been registered with the seizure of narcotics and 5 vehicles.
Acting on a tip-off, Gochhapada police has seized 1470 kg of the contraband which was transported in 49 poly packs (each contains 30 kg) in a truck having Maharastra registration number. The cost of the seized contraband was said to be over Rs. 1.47 crore. Driver Jogesh Mina (42), who hails from Akhbarpur village in Dewas district of Maharastra, was also arrested. A case was registered in this regard and investigation is on vide PS Case No.90/26.
The drive will continue in an organised manner in entire district of against narcotic drug trafficking to make the Kandhamal free from the clutches of drug peddlers, he added.
