Ajay Devgan to play Squadron Leader Karnik
Mumbai: With Indo-Pak tension at its new high now, Ajay Devgan will play Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, whose gallantry in 1971 is still a fable in India.
Karnik, rebuilt the Indian Air Force’s heavily damaged Bhuj airstrip in Gujurat with the help of 300 courageous local women and a few of his colleagues to enable an Army plane to land with officers to take on Pakistani aggression. The task was achieved at the height of Indo-Pak war without any civilian casualty. Karnik and his team reconstructed the airstrip in no time for retaliation amidst regular bombardments by the Pakistani fighter planes.
`Bhuj, The Pride of India’, as the film is titled will show case one of the many valiant accounts that led to India’s victory against Pakistan in 1971 war. Karnik personally feels that Devgan is most suitable to play his character. The movie is written and directed by Abhishekh Dudhaiya.
