JEE Main begins: Around 1.8 lakh appear on day 1
Bhubaneswar: Around 1.8 lakh students appeared for the JEE Main Exam 2019 (January session) which kicked off officially from today amidst two-day nationwide strike by trade unions.
Over 11 lakh candidates are set to appear for this national level test which will continue till January 12.
The National Testing Agency is conducting the examination for the first time in 264 cities in the country including 9 cities from Odisha — Bhubaneswar, Angul, Balasore, Berhampur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jeypore, Rourkela and Sambalpur.
Today 1,80,052 candidates took the test for paper-II at 390 centres for admission into architecture and planning courses. The paper-I examination for admission to B.E./B.Tech courses will begin tomorrow and continue till January 12.
The examination will be conducted in two sittings–9.30 am to 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
The JEE Main, country’s top engineering entrance examination is being conducted twice a year for admission to various engineering colleges.
The result of the examination will be declared on January 31, 2019.After January, the next set of examinations will be conducted between April 6 and 20.
