DCW seeks ban on acid sale
New Delhi; The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has issued a notice on Tuesday to the Divisional Commissioner of Revenue (DCR) seeking a complete ban on the sale of acid in the city which has become a major cause of concern.
Quoting data from National Crime Record Bureau, the Commission expressed its concern over the high incidence of acid attack in Delhi which is the third highest in the country after West Bengal and UP, the DCW Chief Swati Maliwal has sought an action taken report from DCR on the matter within 10 days.
Taking into consideration of the ban on sale of acid by the Supreme Court in July 2013, the DCW has issued this notice to Divisional Commissioner of Revenue of Delhi.
Maliwal also met with some acid attack survivors on the tenth day of her 13-day-long Mahila Suraksha Padyatra (women safety march).
